Help Portrait

I have been a part of Help Portrait now for three years. It's a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community. The idea is the brainchild of Jeremy Cowart, a very talented photographer, graphic designer, and artist. The concept is pretty simple....find someone in need. Take their picture. Give them a print. My first experience was photographing a great family that were members of the Boys and Girls Club here in Bloomington. For the past two years, Chelsea Sanders over at Blueline has taken the lead and organized the event through the South Central Community Action Program. This year three photographers worked together to photography roughly 40 families who might not otherwise have the chance to get a family picture taken. The session was this past Saturday. On Monday they received a free 8"x10" print and the files from the session. Below is a selection of some of the images I took during the day...an assortment of families and volunteers. Look carefully....we even had a special visitor jump in front of the camera!!!

Becky and Franco - Deer Park Manor - Bloomington, Indiana

Today I wanted to share a beautiful wedding from Deer Park Manor in Bloomington, Indiana. Becky and Franco were married during autumn...which is my favorite season of the year. Becky chose warm tones for her wedding....lots of orange, yellow and reds...which complimented the surroundings wonderfully. Gorgeous!!!

Kelly and Nate - Indianapolis, Indiana

Kelly and Nate are very patient people. The first time we attempted their engagement pictures a storm blew threw about 20 minutes in to the session. One of those "hurry, run for cover" storms. We ended up canceling the shoot and rescheduling for another day when the weather was more cooperative. Broad Ripple is such a wonderful place to shoot engagement pictures. There are so many nooks and crannies to choose from. Here are a few selects of our cute couple!

Holly and Dan - Indianapolis, Indiana

Holly and Dan wanted to be surrounded by friends on their wedding day. People made the trip from all over the country with lots of peeps from California. Elvis hung on the wall. There were toy creatures holding flowers in the bathroom. Her uncle led the band and played piano. And at the end of the day, Holly and Dan were married, surrounded by friends and family who truly love them.
